I cannot update existing packages on my machine. I have downloaded a number
of the uwin self-extracting files and am stymied with the results on
attempting an install. I was under the impression, perhaps falsely, that
the newer package would install over the older files. What occurs is this:
a shell pops up, displays a prompt, idles for about 15 - 20 seconds and then
exits with no further indication. When I installed files before, an
installer screen popped up with further instructions and installation
followed quickly with a running commentary of the progress of the
installation. I have checked the packages for proper security permissions
and set them to be unblocked.
The previous packages that I wished to update are:
1. uwin-base.2007-05-20 7,024 KB
2. uwin-dev.2007-02-26 3,202 KB
3. uwin-groff.2006-02-14 1,145 KB
4. uwin-xbase.2006-02-14 9482 KB
The new packages that I have downloaded are:
1. uwin-base.2007-12-11 7,344 KB
2. uwin-dev.2007-12-11 3,303 KB
3. uwin-groff.2007-12-11 1,248 KB
4. uwin-xbase.2007-11-05 8,483 KB
I have tried to use the un-install desktop icon on the previous installation
of uwin to no avail. Absolutely nothing happens. I have a number of
problems with the installed files and wanted to get new files for the bug
fixes that I know have occurred (note the differences in the package sizes).
I figured that installing new files might fix the problems that I have been
having. Any direction on updating packages or information on un-installing
older files would be appreciated.
Thanks for your advice,
M.R. Neese
