Maybe you could try:

groff -mm -Tlj4 file | tee tempfile | lp

Subject: [uwin-users] groff: cannot execute

I am trying to pipe groff output to my hp printer using the following command:
---
groff -mm -Tlj4 file | lp
---
but get only a blank page and the message:
----
groff: cannot execute
-------
I can echo text and pipe it to the printer seamlessly, and I can direct the
groff 'lj4' output to a file, so it looks like groff and the pipe do not work
together. I am running groff-1.20.1 under uwin 4.1/5.1. Has anyone had this
problem, is it solvable?
