You definitely don't need to use debian packages to automate it.  Any
decent configuration management tool (and even just a shell script) can
easily compile uwsgi from source or install via pip without issue.  The
quickstart guide really is one of the best places to start since it steps
you through the process while gradually adding complexity toward a full
production configuration.
