Ditto, craftsman is your best bet for cheap reliability. I use Snap-On and mac tools mostly due to the fact that when I work on customers multi-millon dollar aircraft they like seeing me use them bright shiny things ( plus it's a tax write-off). One word of advice though on common six point bolts that require high torque, buy some six point sockets for them, I have seen many a busted knuckles when people try to crank on a six point nut or bolt with a 12 point socket. And your question about 12 point hardware, you can achieve higher torque values for the same fastener size( I personally think they look cool), for example engine mount bolts for a commercial airliner ( 3 per engine on average ) uses a 3/4 and a 15/16 nut which is torque to 680 ft pounds. and some wing to fuselage fittings are over 1100 ft-pounds. try to get that on six point hardware. Anyway any tool purchase is a wise investment, you will always have them unless you have kids, neighbors,brothers,sisters,wifes,husbands,friends,uncles,aunts.... well you get the idea.
