 "Techies",
A couple of weeks ago I started my project of tearing down my bike to do
certain mods, all of which are cosmetic. As far as putting things back
together, (grabrail, complete headset, handlebars, etc.), I am unsure which
bolts require torqueing and which do not, or if it is even an issue. Reason:
Last time I removed the grabrail and reinstalled it, then went to remove it
again, I found several bolts waaaay loose...so if this is a stupid question,
then it's one I'm happy to ask.

 Please lend advice
 Thanks, Greg Varela

Greg, You will find several torque charts at the back of the Service Manual.
For any reassembly of low stress non specific items (i.e., grab rails, turn
signals) I either use the chart for the same size bolts or tighten using my
best judgment through trial & error. In other words does it feel loose or
can I move it by hand. Before I get that far I always apply some Blue or
Medium strength loctite. whenever possible I use nylon locknuts. Do not Use
the red or high strength loctite except where it may be called for in the
service manual. I had to drill out & rethread a shock bolt from that
mistake. Good luck. Tim VMOA #1036 Minneapolis, MN 97 Vmax
