Kurt,
The holeshot pipe is a hindle variant .... with a 2 1/4 inch canister
on it. I had never seen an actual holeshot pipe before until last
summer at a Vmax get together, (I suppose I had but didn't mentally
acknowledge it). The pipe I saw was on a '99 ... We made a point to
take a really good look at it since the owner had just put it on. I
thought it looked great with the coating on the pipes and I have to
say I was impressed with the way this thing sounded ... It had a
really nice rumble and was not offensively loud. I am sure you can
duplicate this with a two brother's pipe or a sudco or any of the
other hindle bent pipes if you don't particularly want to do business
with holeshot, (you might get a better price just about anywhere). Two
Brothers even has a nice selection of round or oval alum or carbon
fiber cans to put on their stainless steel version and I think someone
said Sportmax was selling stainless Hindles these days too, (with the
holeshot you take their alum can .... period). However, IMHO ... it
was a nice looking and a nice sounding pipe. I don't care to start a
pipe war on the list but IMHO ... "you don't really want to run a 2
1/2 inch can on a Kerker" ... loud is not the word ... you may as well
be running an open collector .... The Kerker is a 4-2-1 and the
Hindle is a 4-1 so you should expect better mid-range torque from the
Kerker but PCW said recently they picked a little more HP using an 18
inch can instead of a 16 on a hindle ... so obviously there are a lot
of considerations here. You may want to defer your final decision
until you get to actually see and hear one on a Vmax ... If you aren't
a member of the VMOA ... check out the director in your area or some
of the members ... see when they are getting together again or seek
one out, (all this information is on the VMOA web site .....
http://www.v-max.com/ ) ...... Don't take my word or anyone else's
word about what is best for you when you have an opportunity to check
it out yourself .... keep those comments in your "recommendation"
file. There are more Vmaxes in your vicinity than you might imagine
.... get with these people and check out the items you are interested
in before you throw your money on the table.
The following post is almost a year old and the prices have probably
gone up but you might check these people out if you decide you might
be interested in a Hindle variant. ......
