Thanks Ian,
Been there, done that and so on.
I include a message I just sent to Tyler Pennock regarding this matter:
Tyler,
As I told you I have it since I bought the bike a year ago and its the same many
others on the list complain about, backfire, cough, pop or whatever through the carbs,
when you start opening the throttle from idle, specially when the engine is cold.
When I turn the mixture screws in all the way (clockwise), the engine starts loosing
rpm and normally when I've done it to more than one carb the engine stalls. They all
have the same effect (richer idle mixture which in turn makes the combustion in the
chamber a less powerful one). no matter which carb I do it will make the engine drop
down the revs from say 1.000 to 700. If I go the opposite way more than 2 1/2 turns it
also starts loosing revs, but not so dramatically. I think the settings are more or
less correct, but I cannot fine tune them due to the S7K open ducts and that really
"pi##es" me off.
Problem with the float levels? probably, but I have had no time to check them. I could
ask Yam dealer to check, but it costs money and I prefer doing it myself.
I'm just about to receive the oval cans from TBR, I will then install the 4 into 4 K&N
filters, readjust needles, check install a manual on/off boost unit (to be able to
tune the carbs) and see how it goes from there.
