I had to remove that rivet on an old Yamaha RD400 I had and I think it would
be the same as that. It is a press fit with spiraled grooves in it to help
hold it in. I don't remember which way it turns. The way I took it out was
to just grab it with pliers and  slowly wiggle it out. I do remember that I
did damage the head some when I did it. If you know what an EZ out looks
like that's kind of what that rivet looks like.
