Bruce,
If you choose to run a 170/80/15 rear tire as opposed to the stock
150/90/15 you will actually be mounting a slightly larger diameter
tire. The 170/80 will give you 80% of 170mm height wrapped around you
15 inch rim or a static diameter of approximately 25.71 inches, (((170
x .8 x 2) / 25.4) +15). The 150/90 tire would yield a static diameter
of approximately 25.63 inches, (((150 x .9 x 2) / 25.4) +15).
Soooooooo .. you gained about a 10th of an inch, (you can smoke that
off during the break in period), and of course not all tires are
exactly the size that is printed on them so it is pretty much a non
issue for overall diameter. I think the Bridgestone G526 rear is
probably the widest looking 150 around ... As far as having to match
the profile on the front and rear ... ie: 70, 80, 90 etc ... no ...
this is not a requirement. If you find a 120/80/15 front tire anywhere
though ... please post .....
