Charles, Thanks for the advice.  I do not let my Vmax idle on its centerstand 
(or sidestand for that matter) in order to warm it up.  I simply fire the 
engine up, and take off.  I cruise at about 35-45 m.p.h. until the temp 
needle reaches its normal position.

I have always been fascinated with a proper engine warm-up.  Gordon Jennings 
from Motorcyclist magazine penned an article a few years ago about the proper 
way to warm-up and engine and also the proper way to break a new engine in.
