I used a tach from a Fazer. Ordered another mounting bracket. fabricated a new bracket for both instruments together using the two brackets and some metal stock, and cut the chrome cup to fit. Hooked in wires to harness using a test light and connectors. One person suggested the fuel light in the tach could actually be used for a shift light. The chrome cups differ slightly between the Max and Fazer (flat vs. bullet style) but it's good enough for me. A lot cheaper than aftermarket as total cost was about $75 ($60 for tach, $13 for bracket). Anyway, I now have a tandem speedo/tach.
