Subject: [Vmax] V-Max Rear Wheel/Tire
size
The Maxzilla article in V-Boost (December 1999)
states:
" Kosman 17" Wheels with 190 mm rear, and 120 mm
front, Metzeler Z4 ..... radials".
I checked the clearance between my stock V-Max
rear tire (150/90X15) and the swing arm.
On the shaft drive side there is 3/4" (19 mm)
approximately of MAXIMUM clearance while on the brake rotor side there is ....
plenty of room.
The Maxzilla rear tire extends 20 mm (2
centimeters) more than the stock tire on both sides of the rim. How is
that possible if the Maximum clearance (in any place from the wheel
center to the top of the swing arm) on the left side of the stock
V-Max is only 19 mm ? There must be something ..... that I do not
take into account!!
I am very much interested in an answer to this
question as I intend to attach a sidecar to my 1989 V-Max (Of course, I'll
get another V-Max for solo riding ...). The sidecar kit requires the
installation of 15"X5" automotive rims and 185/65X15
automotive tires to replace the V-Max stock
ones.
Thank you
