OK here is the skinny on most all of the after market seats.

4 years ago I decided that I wanted a new seat to placate my wife. Seeing how I
live only 70 miles from the Corbin factory I decided to make an appointment to
go down there and see the process for myself.

I was not prepared for the amount of decisions I would have to make. I figured
that I would have maybe two selections to make and that was it. No Dice! They
would have custom built the whole product to my liking. My choices were seat
form (how it fits your butt). I decided to have them shave the sides to
accommodate my thighs as I have the blessing or curse or being short and
squatty. So they shaved the seat until I was happy with the feel.

Next was a decision on the covering. I went for leather instead a naugahyde.
This of course cost more but last longer if taken care of. Then they asked me
what type and color of leather! I decided on black to avoid the seat getting
more attention than the bike as a whole. Then they asked me about different
colored welting to accent. Once again, no welting. Fancy stitch work? I told
them to match some scalloping that was on a custom Harley that they were working
on.

All in all it took about four hours to have a custom made seat in my possession.
They treated me great and assigned one senior person to me for the whole
process. They let me roam the factory at will. Offered me coffee and snacks. In
general they were a great group to do business with. But remember that I went
there.

If you choose to purchase their products through a dealer or magazine you will
get a canned version of a seat that will have none of your particulars
installed. My advise is to call them and ask that a blank seat (no covering) be
sent to you. You can mount it and see if it fits your rear end. If not shave it
yourself. Then when satisfied send it back with instructions on what material
and colors and any special things you want done.

I think Paul will agree with me on this as he went to the factory also and had
some custom forming done on his seat.

Also Patrick Ahearn went to Sergeants and I think he will agree that visiting
the sight is the way to go. If you can't do that...do your homework and be
specific about what you want.
