sorry faulty key board... the manual recommends 120mm or 4.8"

hello everyone,
I have one question this evening (well its evening for me). I'am installing
progressive springs and in the instructions they suggest an oil level of
140mm or 5.5" maximum and the manual recommends 120mm or 4.8" from the top
of
inner fork tube fully compressed without spring.
so I'am just a wee confused and I seek the wisdom of the V-Max guru's for
a little advice..
