Wellllllllll ... isn't that interesting .... now I have to go find a 97/98+ and check out these cases. I compared the crankcase covers on my '98 Royal Star to my '93 Vmax and there is no way they would fit. The bolts line up but there was more filler material on the block, (the Royal). The bolt humps in the block can not be seen on the Royal as it is built up and completely smooth ... on the Vmax ... you have a "hump" for every bolt that enters the block. Have to check this out ... might even be an easier way to go into the 1300-1500cc range. Of course .. now I think you are pulling "my" chain ... because the top half of the crankcase/block assembly, (with the cylinders), is as I said ... smooth on the Royal and this means that the Vmax would have to have different crankcase covers and water pump housing in order to use this block. I will go throw a net over a 99/2000 and  take a really good look. Where did you get this information ?? Did a helicopter fly over and drop pamphlets at your house ??

Subject: Re: Vmax Engine Cases

There is the original case 85- mid 96, 96 to 97(spin on filter),97 to 98( switch to royal star cases, see casting vertical ridges at right rear of engine), 99up increase material behind rear cylinders where it meets the case you will see 2 raised gussets bridging the case to the rear cylinders.note the years might vary abit due to importing Can bikes are usually the previous year US models this is why our colors are one year later than your's, example you got floating rotors on your 93 model(purple) our's got them on our 94(purple) our 93 was black.
