Don,
I punched up that run ... from Sportbike Online ... stating 176.9 RWHP
.. going 9.44 @ 144 mph ...
Figuring 620 lbs for the Max, (and I realize this guy at least has
shead 25 lbs for the exhaust system), and 160 lbs for a suited up
rider ... I had to punch in 59 degrees and 0 elevation, (no RWHP
correction at this temp and altitude), to get close to this run ...
Anyhow ... at 59 degrees .. 0 elevation ... 780 lbs total weight and
177 RWHP .. I get a "best" of 9.50 @ 143 mph ... So this guy must be
very light or something .. but the trap speed is in order and this guy
just had to have wheelie bars, struts and a slick ....
I punched a "Phil" at 5300 feet, 75 degrees, 780 lbs total weight and
190 Peak RWHP .. .and get a spread of 10.163 - 10.449 at 134.693
......... At this altitude and temp ... his 190 horses get corrected
to 147 ........ If I punch the same combination .. and correct for
altitude and temperature ... I get a spread of 9.327 - 9.677 @ 146.7
mph, (the equivalent of a "corrected" run), ....... (the "spread" in
my program output is due to traction and wind resistance factoring ...
worst/best) ...... Even at Bandimere .. if you are still sitting up at
the 1/8 mile marker you will be lucky if it doesn't cost you a tenth.
I was looking at one of those old Cycle Magazine .. speed shootouts ..
and Kosman broke into the 9s with a '93 Vmax, (the wire wheel
special), but of course it had an 18 inch slick, wheelie bars, and the
little 135 lb Gleason bullet launching at 5500 RPM ....... driveshaft
and all .......
