Like I always say, works for me...and that is all that really matters, to me anyway, in the end... Steve, the polished parts can be either cleared with paint, or can be powdercoated(clear is avail.). Or U can just run them the way they are; the machine polishing seems to heat the surface, and close alot of the pores in the aluminum, so maintaining the polished parts is not difficult... Rear end gearing- Thanx to whomever gave the tip about the XS1100; will keep my eyes open for these as well... The Venture(86up 1300 only)rear bolts right on, with no problems. (I have over 10K miles, and Jim, my brother, runs a Venture rear as well, with no problems...U just need to install the shock stud from your old MAX rear in the Venture housing-already tapped for it) DO NOT use the shaft from the Venture, however; it is slightly longer; will fit, but jams things up inside... The Royal Star gearing works GREAT! I have been, and will be, running this gearing, in the 95 MAX I am currently riding, on my trip to San Fran, so anyone I meet along the way, is more than welcome to test-ride the MAX with this gearing.
