Hey Dale,

So it sounds like you are running a little slow with your trap speeds. I
would expect a Higher MPH at the end of the 1/4. Even with a low HP
~105hp stock max you should be getting real close to 120MPH at your
weight. So I would suspect that your bike needs a tune up or something ?
Don't know for sure but you might want to have it checked out.

About the drag racing. I am not a pro. But I have never seen anyone beat
me on a stock vmax at this altitude. I'm not trying to sound arrogant
but this is what i have observed with my max racing. I have around 200
passes in on my max and it takes alot of practice. But the key to drag
racing the vmax is the holeshot. If you hit the holeshot correctly you
will be quick with your max.. I would speculate that if you could hit a
perfect holeshot you could run a hi 10.90 on your max. I went to sea
level once and ran a 1.63 0-60ft time. Your 1.83 is equivalent to what I
am running at this altitude (5800) feet. So I would tell you that your
RPM's are way too low for dragging the vmax. Here are a couple of
pointers.

1. Heat your tire up. The only way to get that small of a tire to stick
is to burn a little rubber off right before you race it.

2. Don't worry about redlighting. It takes practice to not worry about
that.

3. Ignore who your racing against.. No matter what you do someone is
always alongside of you redlighting or drownding out your sound of your
max or doing something distracting.

4. The launch ..
pull to the light and take your RPMS to around 5k let out on the clutch
slowly (this is called feathering the clutch) You do not want your tire
to slip.
I don't look at the tach I listen to the engine. This takes time
getting used to but the vmax tach is too far out of view.
Take every gear to at least 10K rpm.
After you get used to 5k launches try going up with the launch RPM. I
am around 7-8 grand at this altitude. You should be able to get 6-7
grand.

You do want your front tire off of the ground about an inch. I would
also stiffen the shocks and lower the front forks as much as you can
and turn your shift pattern around so that you can press down to shift.

Hope this helps... Kick some crotch rocket butt...

Take Care Phil
