I run 10W-40 in my 97 Vmax, but it's a synthetic formula: Redline synthetic
motor oil. Before I switched to Redline at 4000 miles (after a nice break-in
period) I used Honda's GN-4 10W-40. It's what my local dealer uses in all
its bikes, new and old, unless the customer requests otherwise. The dealer
said the GN-4 is just the same as the Yamalube. It's just that my particular
dealer gets Honda's GN-4 in bulk.
