The little round plastic gasket material came off the top of your float
needle... that's why the float was sticking... makes a cute little clear
plastic donut...
I had the same situation back in the spring of 95 the first time I tried to
start it after it had been in storage all winter...
Do I winterize my bike??? No... too lazy... I do put Stabilizer in the
fuel system if it looks like it's going to be a long winter...
Some folks don't like using gas stabilizer but I've never had a problem with
it... my bike has always started as long as the battery was charged up
properly...
