Sat Tara,
I like the new titanium muffler but I thought I would go for the oval
aluminum for the time being. This will save a few bucks, (so my
conscience won't bother me so much), and the aluminum one I was able
to spend some quality time with is actually one of the most beautiful
cans I have ever seen, (just like the cans that Charles has on his
dual arrangement). Plus .. I am trying to regulate my expenses as the
wife is getting pis..d now because she still doesn't have her
"passenger" floorboards on the Royal, (and the SPA tach/speedo is a
must have .. sigh .. and ...... well ..... you know how it is .....).

A local group member finally put one on and I was just so impressed
with the welds and appearance that I knew I had to have one. It
doesn't have a separate collector extension either .. just all one
piece except for the two rear cylinder extensions ... I think they
really are 4-1 though ..... The pipe is also very quite until you get
into it .... I have a powder coated reinforced swingarm that I picked
up from one of Patrick's "sales" and it won't fit with stock mufflers
in place ... so they have to go. I am also looking forward to dumping
the weight.

This all started because I was fooling with the pilot jets, (ended up
with 42.5 PFJ and DJ160 PAJ2), .. and I started to get a "lot" more
strength on the low end ...... Sooooooo ... I was out with two others
and I happened to be pulling low, (just off the ground), wheelies ...
screwing around taking off pretty briskly without trying to break the
tire loose ... and when we stopped later and were talking ... they
both said ... hey !! Do you know you are really twisting your bike
when you take off like that ??!? They said I was "compensating"
because they noticed I moved to the left side of the bike .......... I
guess I never noticed that before ... you know .. you really are only
trying to stay "on top" ... since that is the general idea, (driver up
top and bike on the bottom), ... etc ..... Soooooooo .... additional
testing was in order and we found that if I just smoked the tire on
take off everything looked fine .. but if I really just tried to load
it up without losing too much traction I could do the "big twist" on
the swingarm.

I never really bought what I thought was "bull" in regard to using a
reinforced swingarm ... they always looked impressive but I thought
about all they could possibly be good for was knocking out prairie
dogs caught standing too close to the side of the road etc. I figured
... "how much can it twist ??" .. unless you had grossly mis-adjusted
shocks on each side of the bike ....... I think that having put a
"new" tire on recently also contributed to the problem as I ended up
with more traction than I had gotten used to with my thinning Dunlop.

Soooooooooo ... this really is a nice pipe with any "can" they offer
... I liked my "convertible" stockers ... but they simply have to go
now ... Uhhhhhhh ... this is an entirely "safety" motivated
modification ...... ;>)
regards,
campbell
