What happens is that when you tighten the top nut, it forces the bottom
nut to the other side of the threads increasing the preload of the
bearings. If you have "loose nuts" the torquing can be a nightmare to
get the right results. If you don't have an annoying "weeve" don't
worry about it. If you do, try decreasing the preload torque by 2 lbs.
Yes the Yamaha tool would not be an accurate reading. However, perhaps
they thought of this when giving the torque reading using their own
tool.
