I hope this is not a stupid assessment, but my Vmax seems to get really hot
under the collar, especially when at stoplights idling, typically in very hot
weather. The temp needle never actually goes to the red zone, but it likes
to hover close, until the fan clicks on.

Now, the synthetic oil manufacturer (I use Redline products) assures me that
the oil is doing its job under such extreme conditions, but it still kills me
to see that needle so dang close to the red zone.

Fortunately, I don't get caught in that kind of slow traffic too often.
Maybe twice a year, where I'm caught in traffic for 30 minutes to 45 minutes
with the temp needle near the red zone.

Does this necessarily cause undue wear and tear on our motors?

Thanks,
  Darrin
