WHERE'S THE WIGGLE ?????? Fellow V-Maxers I just arrived in NC for vacation.
Since I live in Florida I don't get much opportunity to throw my V-max into
serious corners. Besides recently putting on RMS solid mounts I also mounted
a pair of 17" DYMAGS with MEZ4 radials. These improvements also are added to
others I had last year which were the RMS frame braces and RACE TECH
emulators and springs in the front and Progressive 418 in the rear. All but
the DYMAGS are within most budgets including mine. The DYMAGS and MEZ4's
luckily I have a very small cost basis as a result of a purchase and sale of
a v-max and a lot of parts.
Ripping through the mountains here is a blast. My V-Max now feels like a
street fighter with a third degree black belt in cornering. The most notable
effect is that it feels very light and steers light as well. Every move or
missmove is immedietly obeyed by V-Max, no more excuses about the frame
being weak. The steering no longer has to wait for the frame to catch up.
Instantly all parts of the bike react with your decision. If you dive into
corner and have to change your line mid curve you just do it. The profile of
the MEZ4's completely eliminates the transition from straight up riding to
serious cornering. In the past tires I have used have had an affinity for
riding straight up , the MEZ's just don't care how you ride. They are eager
to do whatever you want.
The RMS motor mounts are the major contributor to the preciseness of the
steering. You will experience some vibration. I fact at first it is quite
noticeable. After a few days it diminishes, I'm not sure if this is a result
of the mounts settling or what. I did replace my thin gel grips with some
foam ones. For those that don't like the frame brace look the mounts are the
way to go. I like both. The motor mounts from RMS get my endorsement
wholeheartedly. Cheers
