Dennis,
I've got ceramic-coated Hindles on a TourMaster engine, and had the
problems you mention. I bent a piece of sheet metal that slides under
the center of the battery box, then bends upward and rests on the top of
the rear cylinder heads. It reflects enough heat to protect the battery
box and the heavy plastic piece over the rear cylinders. I guess it
looks a little tacky, but it's not at all noticeable, and protects
things until I can get the mixture settings correct.
