Robert,
IMHO ... I think I would install the kit per the instructions to start
with ... and get everything stable the way it is supposed to be. Drill
the slides on a drill press if possible to get a nice straight holes
etc ..... Use the DJ165 main jet. You don't even have to take the fuel
bowls off for this kit unless you are doing fuel level. The main jets
can be loosened and then extracted out of the fuel bowl on a "fat"
toothpick through the drain plug hole.
