There are plenty of links to "oil" articles on the list web site.
There was a rather large re-print of an "oil" article in the last
Vboost magazine. There are plenty of people that run synthetic motor
oil in their Vmax. I personally would not change over at 2000 miles
unless I had verified that my compression readings had settled .....
and without taking those readings I think I would wait until I got
closer to 4K as Don has suggested.

I used to run Castrol 20-50 and had absolutely no complaints .... I
now run 15-50w synthetic and have no complaints .... I have no leaks
and I do appreciate the light viscosity of the synthetic when it is
cold .... it circulates very quickly on startups.

If you feel your "source" is dependable and it bothers you then by all
means do what ever your "source" says ...... I don't recall seeing any
posts on this list that attributed any mis-performance to synthetic
oil.
