Brian:

Someone on this list stated you can get a TFS545 thermo-fan switch from
Pepboys, which is where I got mine from . You can also get it from
www.wrenchead.com. Physical size difference made me suspicious for a
proper fit, but it worked fine. Be ready to catch about 4-6 ounces of
coolant when you take the OEM switch out. If you tighten the new one too
much, the o-ring will get slightly squeezed out resulting in a leak when the
system comes up to pressure. Don't forget to leak check it before you get
too far from your tools.

The male connector on the new switch won't match the OEM female connector.
While there are several ways to make the connections, I chose to crack open
the new switch's connector, freeing the pins that can fit into the OEM
female connector. I just put on some shrink tubing ( $2 from Radio Shack)
over each pin up to the point where it enters the female connector. No
jokes, please. I also put a slightly larger piece of shrink tubing over the
two separate wires. Then just to make sure vibrations don't loosen the
connection and to keep out moisture, I put on a couple of turns of
electrical tape. This makes it easier to swap out the switch if needed. A
quality solder job might make the installation more professional, but I just
wanted to leave mine with the original connector.

One last note, heat guns for use with shrink tubing can be pricey. I used
my wife's heat gun that she uses with rubber stamp crafting. It only costs
$15 at a local craft store.
