! am running a 2000 vmax with the exact same supertrapp setup.   My exhaust 
shields are on the inside.  I have not had any soot in 300 miles.  The bike 
exhaust seems to run very clean with my 12 discs installed.  The last 50 mile 
I have my V Boost wide open all the time as an experiment.
