ARS designation means cast aluminum ARS // BARS is billet aluminum ARS
// ARS is Adjustable Rate Suspension .. which essentially means you
can twist a dial and change the stiffness of the shock.
The steel and street trackers look like the progressive 418s to me but
you can get all types of options on any of these shocks ... ie: if you
put end caps on them they look like progressive 412s, if you get the
Mario signature series it looks like a thumbprint on the spring cup ..
etc ............. You really need a catalogue to appreciate all the
options.
Obviously, there is quite a price spread here ... on both sides of the
progressives .......
