Simon,
OK .. then pull out the pilot mixture screws, (turn them in all the
way and record where they were so you can put them back the same place
when you are done ); use one of those "carb cleaner" cans with the
plastic tip and force some cleaner in the holes ... back it up with
some air pressure from your small compressor ... or the pressure from
the carb cleaner may do it for you. At the top ... the primary pilot
air jet is the big jet at the top of the carb ... use the same plastic
tip on the carb cleaner can and squirt some cleaner in them ... This
just may do the trick for you ........... if we succeed this will open
up the pilots sufficiently ... you will get a little more juice on
light throttle cruising ......  and life will be wonderful .......
None of this requires removal of the carb stack ... just the airbox on
top .......
