The cost of fuel in the UK is high because it is the
governments misguided idea to price the average driver
off the road. Their argument is that it will reduce
polution and lead to less congested roads thus
improving the punctuality of public transport. I've
yet to take a ride on a bus that gives me the
flexibility and sheer enjoyment of riding my max. LOL.
They can, and do, get away with this because the
average UK motorist is too lazy or complacent to get
off his @rse and do something about it. Currently the
tax on fuel in the UK is something like 85%. It would
be cheaper to run my max on vodka than petrol. This
affects the poorer people in the community who
struggle to own and maintain cars much more than the
better off. The fat cats still get to drive their gas
guzzler Jaguars and Mercedes on clear roads so they
are all for it. Those of us that live in the
"outback" rural communities have to rely on
cars/motorcycles to travel because there is no public
transport. Not bad for a country that produces it's
own oil. Maybe we should take a leaf from the
Jamaicans who refused to accept increase in fuel tax
by letting the government know in no uncertain terms
the fate that would await them.
Enough soap-boxing - does anyone know how to make fuel
from potato peelings :-)
