Solid mounts/Sportmax seatI just did my first longer daytrip (300 km) with
the aluminium solidmounts on. They're great - the bike feels much more
confidence inspiring in the twisties. But, I would like to suggest that this
mod isn't for everyone. Shure the handling improvement is very obvious but
so is also the increased vibrations, especially above 5000 rpm. The
handlebars are the worst, hands get slightly numb after a while, and I also
feel vibrations in (sportmax) seat and footpegs. Maybe the handlebar
vibrations are increased by my dragbars, they're kind of short.
I don't regret doing the mod at all, I think the better handling is well
worth it, but I also think the vibrations have increased more than I thought
they would, and those who ride their Maxi mainly for touring or cruising
should probably think twice...

I have solid mounts on my bike, but do not have a sportmax seat. The
vibrations are not worse that without the mounts in my opinion, at least not
that noticeable. My solid mounts came together with the other modifications
(a lot, look at Ingo's page if you are interested), so I did not try this
separately. Even if there is a little more vibration: the modification is
worth it!
As far as distance is concerned: as the bike is now I did 900km in one day
and no pain. With my last Vmax I rode to the Black sea (3500km one way) with
a standard seat (not one day of course!). I think the trick is practise
(drive often) and wear leathers. Does it for me.
