Finally caught up with the list after vacation and this question is still "alive" so... I used to ride with a Shoei DuoTec helmet and LOVED it. Used to smoke and it was great for cigarette breaks without removing the helmet. BTW, you CAN'T ride over about 40 mph with the helmet open or it will rip your head off. Anyway... Crashed my Vmax in Montana in '98. My brother was following in a car. When he found me laying in the ditch my DuoTec helmet chin bar had come open. It was pulled all the way over the top of the helmet to the back of my neck. He took a picture of my wrecked bike after the police had set my helmet on the (vertical) footpeg so I have proof if anybody needs it. I don't remember a thing between my view of an 8"-travel tank slapper and the flight for life helicopter. I DID love that helmet and I didn't suffer any head/neck injuries, but I'll never own another one. (Now I own three Vmax's--one totally rebuilt--and I'll always do my own maintenance. That bike was in the shop two week's before I left for "maintenance" in preparation for the ride.) Dan VMOA632 .............................................
