Phil,
The lift is rated at 1500 lbs ......... It weighs 105 lbs ... has
steel wheels etc .. I haven't tried it on the Vmax yet, (chicken), but
it picks up my Royal Star just fine, (which is 100 lbs heavier and
requires no adapters as the exhaust pipes are outside and above the
frame rails). This lift is very similar to the ATV lift sold by Harbor
Freight etc and will require the same frame adapter or blocks for a
Vmax, (I am sure I have seen a sketch of someone's adapters on the
list web site which will work fine for this lift .. I think there is
also a picture of the lift there ... that I just splattered out to the
world ..).
I think one of the advantages of this lift, (the Lavin/Sam's lift), is
that the front wheels are inside the frame and this allows the lift to
be stood up on end against the wall when not in use ... otherwise it
is almost identical to the Harbor Freight ATV model. If you get the
front pad somewhere beneath or slightly behind the front motor mounts
I can assure you it isn't going anywhere ... of course they recommend
that you strap the vehicle to the lift before you start rolling it
around the garage. I have put the Royal on this lift and rolled it all
around the garage ... sat on it ... the works ... it is very stable
and the quality of the welds/assembly are better than you would ever
expect for $99 buckos, (USD), or any price for that matter.
If you decide you can't make it work or it is too much trouble you can
always sell it to a "cruiser" guy/gal ... they would kill for a $99
lift. Some "zero" has been auctioning these on Ebay and always gets
between $180 and $250 ... sigh ... I have been using it to pick up all
kinds of stuff ...
