The rear fender mounting ears on my backrest broke recently. So, I removed
the rear fender to have the backrest repaired.

With the rear fender removed I could see the lovely parallelogram formed by
the swingarm mounts and the upper shock mounts. Additionally the rear
subframe sections that hold the backrest/grab bar, fender, etc. simply
protrude with no (substantial) element to tie them together
(read:triangulate). The tray that holds the seat latches is about the only
thing back there.

No wonder these bikes weave under hard accelaration. :-(

My second official mod (after billet fork brace) will be to reinforce the
rear subframe
