Guys,

Symptoms: The bike will start and idle fine - choke on or off. ANY application
of throttle kills the engine.

Last ride: I took ol' Pandora for a midnight ride on Sunday night and she began
losing power and finally died about 2 mi. from home. The frustrating thing was
that she'd start and idle, but I couldn't put her in gear and ride home. So I
pushed - my legs still hurt.

History: Earlier in this project I de-rusted the fuel tank with muratic acid,
but left it in bare metal. Sure enough, rust has developed on the inner surface
of the tank. The inline fuel filter clogged two weeks ago (I cleaned it out),
so I'm sure fine rust particles have entered my carbs (Kraig, you are right,
those clear glass and chrome fuel filters don't catch everything). Now that you
have the background info, here are my questions:

1.) If I choose to re-etch the tank with muratic acid, how can I "finish" the
inside to prevent rust from re-forming? Do radiator shops have a process like
this? Does Kreem *really* work? Otherwise, I'm shopping for a new tank.

2.) The carbs - what do I need to do? Drain the bowls, clean the jets? You
guys need to explain this to me, in detail, since this will be "a first."

Thanks in advance,
Kevin
