Kraig,
   I've just read your reply and I think that cylinder with the hard black 
residue is the problem. Sounds like you are burning oil at a slow steady 
rate which will not show up in the exhaust as a blue cloud because the rate 
is too low for the blue smoke to form. Also, the other cylinders (healthy) 
are mixing in and masking the blue smoke effect.
    You might be able to see it if someone followed you down the road and 
you ran without the Exhaust collector so each cylinder's exhaust could be 
seen. I'm not sure if doing this would be a good idea as the hot exhaust 
might damage soon of the plastic or rubber parts. Just think about it.
    Only two places for the oil to come from,,, past the intake valve/guide 
seal or the oil ring is broken or stuck.
    Call your area Yamaha factory rep and scream bloody murder.... Then call 
Yamaha headquarters here in CA and do the same thing. Only squeeking wheels 
get any grease.
