Valve guide seals. Possibly both valves but most likely intake.

The trick to finding worn valve seals:

Ride up to a good cruising speed. Hold the throttle steady for about a
minute. Drop the throttle and coast down (from say 70 to 30). Roll on the
throttle QUICKLY. At the same moment as throttle roll-on look for a little
smoke from the exhaust.

Smoke = worn valve guides/seals.
No Smoke = me still scratching my head.

1) full throttle = no smoke

2) No smoke at start up BUT I do get about 5"'s of white smoke when the temp
is below freezing.

3) right now 15w15 Moble1 but am going to change back to Yamalube Race lude
today. Oil was consumed the most with 20W50 Kendoll. Placed a couple of
20W50 Castro Car oil on the road due to necessity. It seem that the
consumption is cut in half with the Moble1

4) Yes, cleaned the bottom of the engine with brake cleaner. It is as clean
as a whsle. 308 mile trip at 80MPH without stopping ate 1/2 quart of oil.
Pulled straight into garage, next morning not even a drop on the floor.

5) No, I have a mercury syncro on order from K&N should be here any day. I
am going to do a flote check also at that time. It has always had a lope at
idle from the factory. Just recently the idle has dropped to around 500-800
RPM's. I know it should be around 1000. I plane to fix this when I sync
the
carbs. If the motor is hot and I blip the throttle 1 out of three times
Mr.
Max will die, but fries right up at the touch of the starter.

6&7) See the attached PICS for my plugs. NO they are not the same color.
One is dark (front left). It is "hard" black not "wet." The black flakes
off with the scrape of your fingernail. It will not rub off. One is kinda
white (front right). The other two are almond (both rear).

8) See attached photo. There is black soot around the opening this has
always been like this since I have owned the bike new. As you can see from
the second PIC the soot wipes off with a pass of your finger.
