Kraig,
I ran the numbers and on your 1/2 quart consumed in 300 miles@ 80mph,
that is a drop every 4 or 5 seconds. That kind of leak would show up
somewhere on the rear of the bike.
You're burning it in that one cylinder with the hard deposits. It works
out to about a drop per 10,000 power strokes at 80mph. Not enough to see
blue smoke.
These things are like a toothache,,,, they mostly get worse not better
with time. I hope you get lucky and the oil ring works itself free. I'd bet
a dollar against a doughnut hole that is the problem.
