Maybe some will say DUH!! at my next newly discovered insight. I was
cleaning out my K&N filter first by pouring mineral spirits through it
and then water pressure hosing it all out. Next I blew all the water out
with air and then set it out in the sun to dry. Once dry I then applied
PJ1 air filter oil. It comes in a spray can. If you have done this you
know this is the point you reach where you ask yourself if you put on
too much or put it on evenly. Either of these situations could lead to
a less free flowing filter. My solution is to air blow the heck out of
the air filter with you air compressor spray nozzle after applying the
oil. This will spread the oil around and blow out all the heavier
applications. Result: Thin and even application. This is one of those
little steps you swear you can feel difference at your first test ride.
Cheers.
