Vern,
        See if you can get some aluminum pipe, 5/8 o/d and insert rubber or
plastic fuel hose inside, (so the longer bolts don't do the "Lambada" in
it).
        Usually the 5/8 pipe will allow you to slip the hose in it, if not,
go to the next size, get the pipe sanded and polished, and that will help
you, until I see if I can make you a set of "nice looking, mirror polished"
spacers on the lathe.
