I wonder if a mechanical control would be the way to go.  I have Dale's
first switch and with just a flick of my thumb I can control V-boost at any
time.  With a mechanical control I would think you would have to take your
hand off one of the bar ends to operate.  When I usually operate my switch
it is NOT the right time to be letting go the bars!!  I have had the switch
for about 5 years with zero problems.  His new one allows you to shut off
V-boost if you want for extended high speed travel to save gas as well as
turning it on.  As with all his stuff it is alittle steep but I really like
it.
