The screws that you can see the backs to in the middle of the flywheel are
the ones that hold the starter clutch on. There is at least part of your
problem!  The flywheel installation is not a problem.  The trick is to heat
the center of the flywheel fast enough that it does not heat the shaft too
and it will pop right off and slide across the floor on you if you have
tension on the puller.  An oxy/acetalene (carefully) is about the only way
to go.  Good luck.
