howdy...
hey, i havent gone the route of changeing my thermal switch,
instead i added the auxillary switch soldered to the connector of
the original switch...
you have to "manually" watch your temp guage vs. having
borg/warner do it, but you have been doing that already....
I did the switch because i have read too many people bitchin
about their fan running all the time and getting flame broiled
legs. with the manual switch, you can shut off the fan once you
get cruising again(original thermal still works). I have seen
pics where people put this xtra switch on the handle bar control
box, I guess this is very functional, but it kinda looks ugly or
outta place to me. I mounted my switch down on the plastic
pannel that your ignition key pops thru. There is a
flat(horizontal) spot that i used, but there are acre's of land
to mount it on, its your choice. Granted that this is a bit of a
reach and you dont want to be doing that reach at ballistic
speeds, but it is outa sight, major reduction in wire routing,
and your handlebar control boxes remain virgins.
BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO KNOW HERE IS THAT RADIO SHACK
SELLS A 2 PACK OF LITTLE RUBBER BOOTS THAT SCREW ON THESE
SWITCHES, YOU GET ONE RED AND ONE BLACK THESE LITTLE BUGGERS
WATERPROOF YOUR SWITCH.. ;-)
