Be carefull pulling the spring out as its got a washer that sits between it and the spacer above it and you don't want the washer to fall back in the forks. When I did mine, I just cut the spacer that Racetech provided in half (it was originally 22 inches, so I have 11 in. on either side, and its pretty stiff). I believe thats all there is to it. I would ride it for awhile before thinking about putting any air in them. I don't have any air and mine is almost too stiff, thats with 2 1/2 turns on the emulator. I don't claim to be any kind of expert, so if i'm wrong i'm sure i'll be corrected. As far as your kick stand...dont know...sorry.
