Can't give you a totally valid comparison. But I fitted Michelin Pilot Sports to
my brothers XJR-1300 Yamaha. It has 17" wheels standard and weighs about 70-80
lbs. less than a V-Max. I can tell you on that bike and frankly I believe on any
high powered and reasonably heavy machine those tyyres are awesome. You will
love them. They grip like drag slicks in the dry and are excellent confidence
inspiring tyres in the wet.
The OEM tyres on that bike were Michelin Macadam Radials. They were total junk
for a high torque bike, wheelspin city and absolutely horrible feeling in fast
cornering.
I can't speak for the mileage potential, they have only done a few hundred
miles. Also can't compare them to other brands or models, but I can't see
anything being better, although they may be very good. I went on a
recommendation from my local tyre fitter who found from other customers that the
Pilots worked best on heavier bikes or bikes with heavier riders. That puts Max
right in there, you won't be dissappointed.
