I see that some are beginning to see that , on the street , the Vmax
is still the king . A quarter of a mile on the street is a long way . A
known road race course is is way different from an unknown back country
road . A 11000 rpm peak hp engine will not bother you until about 100
mph . That is where the Brick effect takes over and he beats you with
his camshafts and body work .
Just running on :)

> I must say something about this so the right perspective is shown
when someone states that his or her bike has so many horsepower and can
beat the hell out of a Max.
>
> I have some idea since apart from having worked for Honda UK for more
than 7 years I own one of those bikes that supposedly can out run the
Max in any condition.
>
> What I find is a total lack of experience in those who say this or
that bike can outrun a Max in any condition. The same way I hate max HP
figures at max RPM, I do not like figures brought out from a Max on a
Dyno.
>
> I would really like to see HP and Torque versus RPM and then we would
be talking business.
>
> I kinda laugh when some guy on a CBR wants to get at me as we leave
the traffic lights. He looks more like a grass hopper trying to overtake
me while I leave him behind as if I was supposed to stop at a station
and the poor guy stands still while he sees the express train pass
without stopping.

> My CBR 900 RR is that kind of bike. After riding the Max for a while I
expect the CBR with 152 HP to behave at least as the "slow max", but
not in a thousand years. I either keep changing gears to keep up or the
engine just dies. If I were riding the bike in a highway my Max would be
at a loss, but I would in exchange enjoy the ride and the scenery while
the CBR rider looks at the white line on the tarmac.
>
> Riding any bike over 100 MPH is nonsense and taking into account how
many times you ride at that speed, I can see no reason for making such
an effort to make the riding comfortable at such speeds. We spend 99% of
our time while riding at lower speeds, so why not prefer an immense
torque bike that rides you to that figure in a very decisive way,
shrinks your heart while doing so and beats most of the RR bikes in
doing so?
>
> Before I go to Australia I'm getting rid of the CBR. Tomorrow I'm
trying out a CBR 11X muscle bike, let's see how it performs, but I fear
that it will be a bit of the same cake.

> > I have consistently seen ZX-9R's run 10:50 passes here in SC. I
have also seen stock Max's run 11.5 - 12.20's. Either You are a REALLY
good rider or your buddy is a REALLY bad rider. A 00 ZX-9r is 136+ rwhp
and around 170 lbs lighter dry than a max. Rider makes all the
difference.
