Frame brace; torque wrench

I just installed frame braces from Holeshot last night; is it my imagination
or does the bike really feel smoother? I wasn't able to do any tight turns -
there had just been a light rain.
How do you read a torque wrench when you're tightening something upside
down? This is not a trick question.
