Can anyone tell me if there's a difference between the '96 and '97 Vmaxs in
the rear brake calliper bracket - the alloy bracket to which the rear brake
calliper is bolted. The part number in my manual is 1FK-25819-00.
The Ohlins YA5131 shocks I bought do not fit my Vmax because the right hand
one fouls the top mounting bolt of the rear calliper. I was told these bolts
are recessed socket screws on the '97 but hex heads on the '96. Can anyone
confirm this?
My bike is supposed to be a '97 (Platinum) but the actual YOM was '96. (The
story I got when I bought it was it was a '97 model but released ahead of
time in late '96???) The bolts on my bike are hex which suggests the bike
is really a '96 in '97 colors.
I hope somebody can enlighten me.
